We organise farm visits in the Berlin area which are specifically intended for gastronomes and farmers. Our aim is to share knowledge about agricultural cultivation methods, spark a conversation around product quality, and show the connection of individual ingredients to our whole food system. Through these farm visits, we bring producers and cooks closer together and nurture their mutual appreciation.

GUT & BÖSEL

We visited the crop farm Gut & Bösel. Here in Alt Madlitz, the team manages a total of 3000 hectares of forest, arable land and pastures. Concepts such as agroforestry and holistic pasture management are being tested in order to improve the quality of the soil and, above all, to meet the challenges of our future food production. Cattle are integrated into the crop rotation and provide not only fertiliser but also gentle tillage. On the agroforestry test plot, we again learned a lot about the advantages of combining different plant species and animals.

ACKERPULCO

The small vegetable farm Ackerpulco attaches great importance to soil health and focuses above all on taste in cultivation and variety selection. We were able to convince ourselves of this and tasted tomatillos and pineapple physalis. During the visit, we learned a lot about compost and soil cultivation, with the special feature that Ackerpulco only uses plant inputs. The vegetables are marketed through the principle of solidarity farming in Berlin.
