We organise farm visits in the Berlin area which are specifically intended for gastronomes and farmers. Our aim is to share knowledge about agricultural cultivation methods, spark a conversation around product quality, and show the connection of individual ingredients to our whole food system. Through these farm visits, we bring producers and cooks closer together and nurture their mutual appreciation.

KLEINE SCHÄFEREI

In mid-July 2025, we spent a day in the Uckermark together with chefs, butchers and people from gastronomy. We were guests of Luca Kloss and Julia Kostarenko at the Kleinen Schäferei in Biesenbrow.

In partnership with reffischaf, we visited the 400 Skudden sheep on the nature conservation land. Luca showed us how sheep, through their grazing, preserve valuable habitats, promote biodiversity and shape the landscape. We talked about everyday life in sheep farming, the challenges facing agriculture, and how closely animal welfare, climate protection and good food are linked.

To round things off: Skudden lamb ribs, a seasonal salad and freshly baked sourdough bread, so that we could board the coach back to Berlin with contented, full bellies, inspired by exciting ideas and armed with plenty of new knowledge.

Thanks to Julia and Luca for the tour, the delicious food, the many insights into their work and the great photos. If you fancy some sheep and the countryside: dinner is served on Fridays and Saturdays, and accommodation is available at any time.
