Ways for a Better Agricultural Policy and Why We Should Not Stop Thinking Politically, with Madeleine Coste and Yael Pantzer [EN]
30 November 2020 @ 18:30 - 19:30
This year the new European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) was adopted – a key moment for farmers and our entire society, as this reform only takes place about every seven years. Through its support policy, the CAP determines which type of agriculture is profitable. It has far-reaching implications for the orientation of our food production, our relationship with our land and our environment, and the price we pay for food. And because the agricultural budget is the largest part of the EU budget, it’s where many conflicting interests meet.⠀
⠀
We will speak (in English) with Madeleine Coste and Yael Pantzer, both EU Policy Officers in the office of Slow Food International in Brussels and who are advocating for sustainable food policies with decision makers. They will give us an insight into the current state of CAP decisions, talk about their political work and discuss with us why it is so important to put political pressure and always think the political in our daily work. ⠀
